Worst 5 Mets Moves of All Time

The only "excitement" thus far in the Mets' offseason has been the release of  a skinny can't-hit-for-shit roid head in Jordany Valdespin and the soulless ginger Justin Turner.  In addition to those two, the Mets non-tendered Omar Quintanilla, Scott Atchison, and Jeremy Hefner.  I'm pretty sure Pablo Sanchez, Jorge Garcia, and Pete Wheeler could 10-run that squad of minor leaguers.  With the recent moves, the Mets cut $4 million off their payroll:
It means that the Mets are ready to move on to their next set of minor leaguers they acquired in a trade from losing teams like the Mariners or the Blue Jays.  Jokes aside, I'm a believer in Sandy and think that he has taken the right steps thus far to build up the Mets farm system and "ball on a budget" (i.e. Marlon Byrd) until there's a consistent flow of Wilmer Flores's and Juan Lagares's coming through.  It's only taken the franchise a few decades to realize that they can't compete with the Yankees by overpaying for their hand-me-downs.  Let's recap some of the most god awful moves so everyone can understand the pain Mets fans endure:

5. Scott Kazmir
The only reasons I have this trade on the list is:
1) The Mets received Oliver Perez and Victor Zambrano in return.  I believe this was during the Omar Minaya "Los Mets" era, so that explains a lot.
2) In 2007, when the Mets were loaded with Glavine, El Duque, John Maine, Pedro, Lo Duca, Reyes, Delgado, Wright, and Beltran. Kazmir's struck out 239 guys while playing in the AL East to go with a winning record and sub-4 ERA.

4. Mo Vaughn
268 pounds of strikeout power in exchange for Kevin Appier, the Mets' most consistent starter in '01.  The decision became final when Steve Phillips (Mets GM at the time) visited Mo at his batting cage in Connecticut.  Makes sense. Mo pounds mo problems.

3. Johan Santana
Maybe this one is still a bit fresh.  And I understand that you can't predict injuries.  But you sign a 30-year old 6-foot lefty to a 6 year deal worth $137.5 million.  And no, the perfect game does not make the signing worth it.  I want rings.

Side note:  In the process of acquiring Santana, the Mets gave away Carlos Gomez, who is 10x better than any outfielder on the current roster.

2. Jason Bay
With the Sox in the year prior to the signing:
.267, 36 HR, 119 RBI
In the three years following a 4 year, $66 million contract:
.234, 26 HR, 124 RBI

The Mets bought out the final year of his contract for $21 million.  I do kinda feel bad for the guy.  Always tried his hardest.  But maybe his efforts would have been better utilized in something like...hockey?

1. Bobby Bonilla
(BusinessInsider.com):  Bobby Bonilla's contract of deferred payments from the New York Mets is considered a laughing stock amongst baseball fans as the Mets chose to give Bonilla 25 payments totaling $29.8 million (starting in 2011) instead of the $5.9 million they owed him in 2000.

So does that mean he can play right field in 2013?
