Browns Wanted The Big Tuna To Fix Team

NESN

The Cleveland Browns wanted to drag former New England Patriots head coach Bill Parcells out of retirement to run their organization. The 72-year-old Parcells last served as vice president of football operations for the Miami Dolphins from 2008 to 2010. He resigned from that role in September of 2010. The Browns wanted Parcells to come out of retirement to hold an unknown role with the organization, according to Mike Freeman of Bleacher Report. Parcells has been an analyst for ESPN since leaving the NFL.

If there is a move the Browns could've made that proved they weren't fucking around and wanted to climb from out of the abyss that they are in, it would have been to hire Bill Parcells to overhaul the team.

As a sports fan, I love to see parity in sports. When an entire league or the top 75% of the teams are all competitive, it makes the sport much more enjoyable and meaningful. In the NFL, there is parity to a degree, but the same teams seem to end up in the playoffs every year. These same teams do not include the Cleveland Browns. In order to change this, the Browns and these other bottom dwelling teams need to hire a no nonsense type of GM/President that can instill a winning program into a locker room that has a loser mentality.

Being ballsy enough to reach out to Bill Parcells, Nick Saban and Josh McDaniels really proves that the Browns are trying. It may just be an elaborate scheme to trick the poor, poor souls in Cleveland, but this season feels a little more genuine. Best of luck, Cleveland. God knows you need it.
